What did you do this past week?

This past week my team and I wrapped up this phase with a bit of time to spare which was such a relief compared to the last phase. This was my first week in a month where I didn’t have a midterm so I got to relax a bit more and I really enjoyed that.

What’s in your way?

This week I did miss class so now I’m a bit behind which worries me. I’m really gonna have to try hard to catch up on the material and start studying earlier. I also am just getting Zoom fatigue and finding it harder and harder to keep up with my classes as the semester goes on.

What will you do next week?

Next week I’ll be working with my group to hopefully knock out a lot of our project and wrap up the phase pretty quickly. I’m hoping this phase will be even more chill than the last one. I will also be studying to catch up on what I missed last week and just generally trying to take care of myself and keep up the motivation to stay on top of things this week.

If you read it, what did you think of the Dependency Inversion Principle?

I thought it was a really great reminder of how thorough we as developers need to be when we create classes that share relationships. I often don’t plan this out properly and fall in line with the naive versions shown in the article and then run into bugs, so it was a really good refresher.

What was your experience of relational algebra in Python?

I missed class this week so this is something I don’t really feel comfortable with as of now that I’ll need to go back and review.

What made you happy this week?

This week I got to spend time with my mom. We went to the Dallas arboretum which was gorgeous on a beautiful day. My phone died while we were there and it was actually nice to be disconnected and spending time outside in the slightly cooler weather. I also enjoyed seeing all of the fall colors.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My tip-of-the-week is to give React Native a try sometime if you’ve used React for this project. It’s so awesome how much you’ll come into it knowing (although there are some differences) and how fun app development is. I personally like styling in React Native much better than React Js.
